Freerange @ AKA - NYE Special

Following the success of last year's New Years Eve party at AKA we've once again been asked to step in to supply the evening's tuneage. Come and join Jimpster, Milton Jackson, Matt Masters and Pash Ostovar for some fine music to see the year out, whilst Laurent Garnier and Layo spin downstairs in The End. This is the last NYE party ever at AKA & The End, and we've been promised that there'll be extra soundsystem drafted in for this event, so it should go off nicely! Gorge - Kassiande EP inc. Marc Romboy Remix

Gorge aka Pit Waldman has recently been responsible for unleashing some of the finest deep house of late, through his own 8bit Records label that he runs with partner Nick Curly.

For Freerange he brings us Kassiande, the kind of raw, stripped back bumpy house groove that perfectly warms up an early evening dancefloor. Add to that some freaked out trumpet samples and an old school piano stab and you’ve got yourself a hit!

Marc Romboy gets busy on the remix, taking the original into darker territories but with bags full of energy and attitude. If you’ve been liking the recent Stimming bits then this one’s for you. Supique completes the EP, taking things on a deeper tip and making this one very tasty little package.

Pezzner - Almost Here EP

Pezzner has a fresh new sound of his own that pushes the boundaries of electronic house in new directions, and works equally well in the club or at home.

His debut Other Lover EP garnered much praise from the likes of Sebo K, Agoria, Justin Martin and Peter Kruder, and with this follow up, we’re certain he’ll soon become the revered producer he deserves to be.

The Almost Here EP is something of a minor concerto with three different sections and a large scale choral arrangement. All three parts sounds as fresh as a daisy, and the lovely fellas at Phonica have already marked it out as a big tune.

Part 1 is the most jacking version, with layers of vocals building on top of a deep, driving shuffled groove. Flipping over for Part 2 we’re treated to the most dancefloor friendly cut, that strips things back and adds energized stabs for maximum impact. Finally, Part 3 is an uber deep and percussion heavy workout that will appeal equally to fans of Braddock, Schwarz and Switch in the good old days. A warm, enticing and yet still abstract track that sounds as original and warped as it does funky.

Lovebirds - The Rat

A new signing to Freerange, Lovebirds is the solo project of Hamburg resident Sebastian ‘Basti’ Doering aka one half of Knee Deep. He kicks off with The Rat - a highly refreshing slice of Detroit deepnes.

Next up is This Sound which is all stripped back beats with massive stabs filtering in and out, whilst a snaking sine takes care of the low end. Finally, we have another of our fave new producers on board for a remix, as Kreon keeps things jacking with techy, percussive sounds whilst injecting a healthy dose of piano into the equation to ensure things don’t stray too far towards the darkside.
